Healing: A guided journal for when you don't know where to start
by Daniel Friedman
The beginning of any healing journey is often the hardest, and this guided journal was created to provide readers with a compassionate, encouraging tool to start their own path to healing. Through thoughtfully designed prompts, affirmations, and blank pages, the journal invites individuals to explore their emotions, unblock themselves, and redefine their relationship with self. Each chapter is organized around the energetic and archetypal qualities of the seven chakras, offering a structured yet accessible approach to self-discovery without overwhelming the reader with overt spiritual or religious concepts.
Drawing from my passion for both art and design, this project allowed me to merge these two worlds that once seemed so separate. By focusing on the foundational aspects of healing, I used the design process itself as a form of personal therapy, crafting each page with intention and care. The journal was printed on 7.5x7.5 Canon specialty watercolor rag paper, with a fitted sleeve cover, to enhance the tactile and meditative experience for the reader. Completed in Spring 2023, this project deepened my creative practice, reinforcing how design can be a powerful medium for emotional and spiritual growth.
